CPR

The goal of our Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) course is to provide workers with the knowledge and skills necessary to recognize an emergency, call for help, and to provide basic life support for a victim until professional medical help arrives. The course includes information on prevention of injury and illness by focusing on early warning signs, accident and injury prevention, and healthy lifestyles. Bloodborne Pathogens training is a prerequisite for this course.

The training program contains the following elements:

  • Legal considerations: Good Samaritan Law
  • Universal Precautions
  • Emergency response and the chain of survival
  • The ABCs of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (Airway, Breathing, Circulation)
  • Basic life support (Adult)
  • Foreign body airway obstruction (Adult)
  • Information regarding heart disease and stroke
  • Prevention
  • Recognition of signs and symptoms
  • Good health advice

Professional instructors follow adult learning principles. Each program includes an interactive format, as well as the use of guides, handouts, visuals, hands-on practice, lecture, and instructor-led discussion. Employee participation and record keeping is documented and cards are presented upon satisfactory completion of all course requirements.
